Birthday/Christmas Wishlist

I really don't like asking for stuff. but since people will give me things anyway, might as well make a list to make it easier for them to give me a gift.

  • Nail polish, any will do.
  • Black hoodie, because the one I currently own is fading.
  • Derek/Stiles drawing. They can be hugging, or kissing, idk I just really want a Derek/Stiles drawing. [framed if possible]
  • Peter/Stiles fic.
  • Convense Chuck Taylor low top black and white classic. If you know me, you know I wear the hell out of these shoes. [size 7 in women]
  • A hug.
  • Homemade oatmeal raisin cookies.
  • Scarf [dark colors only]
  • Earrings, nothing that dangles.
  • An original sonnet about how awesome I am.
  • A cold fizzy beverage that has 23 flavors.
  • Pacific Rim on DVD
  • Tres Leches Captain America cake with pink flowers and the words "I'm Batman!" written across it.

Honestly, my list is just simple things.

It's A Monday

I had to work this weekend but it was ok because I was working in the back and got to jam to my music. I'm off today, so I naturally I woke extremely early, and was just laying in bed for several hours.

Eventually I did get up because I had to adult and pay my rent. I usually send my sister to pay my rent since I'm busy with slowly dying and being a hermit. But she said she wouldn't pay it anymore because I played that Taylor Swift song she hates. To be fair, I purposely put it on and held my iPod to her ear.

I tried watching movies on netflix but it wouldn't stream. I've watched a few movies, and I need to update my posts.

Ok so lately I've been hating music, nothing actually grabs my attention. The Valley album by Eisley changed that, even if for a few days. The whole album is great except the song The Valley, which I thought was funny.

I joined an RP site, it's been almost 2 years since I've rped with anyone. It's hard for me, since I'm use to just writing fanfics now.

Anyways, I'm going to lunch with my mom, sister, and nephew. I'll enjoy the rest of this nice weather we're having in Houston.

Peanut Butter Nutella Cookies

I was off today, didn't even have to wake up early. Mid day I was craving something sweet, and the urge to bake something was vibrating through my skin. OK maybe not like that, but I did have to urge to bake something. I picked cookies, since I already had all the ingredients at my disposal, and to be honest, mixing and measuring is my favorite part.

I googled Peanut Butter Nutella cookies, and came across this post from The Sister's Cafe. The recipe is simple and easy.

They came out good, my family ate most of them before I finished baking the entire batch. So go make some of these delicious perfections.

Films '13: Movie Weekend

I can't remember what weekend I saw these, must have been when I was being lazy and watched TV all day. I've been meaning to watch these films, and finally got a weekend all to myself to do just that.

Let's start off with Constantine, I like it. Although I though it lacked in some of the cinematography, I wish it would have been a bit darker. The whole story I loved, and I would like to see more. Definitely watch it again. 3.5/5

Lockout, let's be honest, the only reason I wanted to watch this was because of Joseph Gilgun. Some of the special effects were lacking, it was an okay movie, better than what I thought it would be. They should have picked a different guy to play Snow. I swear I thought at any moment Liam Neeson was going to show up and save Maggie Grace. 2.5/5

Silver Linings Year Book though, it's a must watch. I might be bias, but Jennifer is just so lovely. Watch it, watch it right now. 5/5

Films '13: This Is 40

I went to see this movie on Monday. It was ok, it had its funny moments. But if I were you, I'd just wait until it came on DVD.

Films '13: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

I've loved Keira since PotC, and my goodness you just need to see her in The Jacket. Actually you need to do yourself a favor and go watch The Jacket right now, Adam Brody is in it, and it's just really good.

I also love my girl in Pride and Prejudice. So when I heard she was in this movie, I was ready to watch it. But then I saw the trailer and I didn't like what I saw, I decided to wait until it was on DVD. I'm glad I did, because this movie was disappointing, it was missing something, I just can't put my finger on it.

Some of the parts were just not that interesting, that I found myself paying attention to other things other than the movie itself. Kiera is such a great actress, she can bring so depth to her characters, I felt like she didn't have that open range to bring that out with her character Penny, i did catch a fleeting glimpse. Also, I don't really care much for Steve Carell or his character.

TL;DR Movie was ok, but it could have been better.

2.5/5

Films '13: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I like watching movies, a lot. But sometimes I forget which ones I've seen. I'm hoping that through the course of this year, I'll remember to write them down, and maybe that way I can get an idea of what I've watched this year. I will be tagging it Films '13.

I woke up this morning around nine, I heated up some brownies, and proceeded to watch this film while I ate candy, because obviously I'm a mature adult.

I was immediately drawn into the movie, Patrick was my favorite, and I just felt bad for him loving someone that had to keep what they had a secret. Emma's accent made me want to laugh, it was just adorable, it was nice seeing her in something outside of the HP movies. I loved the music. It was a good indie movie, or at least that's what it felt like. I would recommend you watch it, if you're into that kind of stuff.

I've hardly been here

I feel like such crap because I can't stick with things. Take this blog for example, I had so many things planned out for it but I guess it just didn't work out.

Things that have happened to me this year.

  • I got a new job.
  • I moved into an apartment by myself, so no more roommates.
  • I met a lot of great people.
  • I've gotten closer to my family, especially my nephew, who I adore.
  • New fandoms.
So all in all, 2012 was good to me.

Born To Die

I finally got a chance to listen to Lana Del Rey's Born to Die album. All I have to say is just what took me so long? I know a lot of people say that they don't like her because she's fake, those people are idiots, do they honestly think that what they hear on the radio wasn't just some ploy to hook them in. You need to do yourself a favor and listen to her album, be your own judge. There wasn't a single song a I didn't enjoy listening to, I love her style. I made a list of what songs I love to the ones that I liked, but this is just personal preference.

  • Without You
  • Blue Jeans
  • Born to Die
  • Radio
  • Summertime Sadness
  • Dark Paradise
  • Off to the Races
  • Video Games
  • Diet Mountain Dew
  • Lolita
  • Lucky Ones
  • Million Dollar Man
  • Carmen
  • This Is What Makes Us Girls
  • National Anthem

New Girl pilot

I watched the pilot of this new show New Girl during lunch. I was grateful that it was less than 30 minutes long because I don't think I would have been able to watch anymore of it. It seemed rushed, and Zooey's character, I get what they were trying to do with her, but FOX you missed it. She came off as annoying, instead of cute and dorky. The only good thing about this show, the only good character they managed to create, was Nick (Jake M Johnson). I just don't know if he's enough to keep me watching though. If the rest of the show is like the pilot, I hope it gets cancelled, because I won't be tuning in.

Sunday Morning with Colombiana

I woke up Sunday morning, I never wake up before noon on a weekend, to a txt from my roommate. I had only a few minutes to shower and get ready. We stopped at some gas station for breakfast tacos, they had fresh homemade flour tortillas. The heat in Houston was terrible, I felt like I was baking. We made it to the theater just a few minutes before the movie started.

Honestly I thought I wouldn't like it but I was surprised and loved it. From the moment this movie began it was all action, I don't know what I was expecting exactly. I'm a sucker for revenge-I'm-coming-after-you- type of action movie (Taken is one of my favorites) so it wasn't hard to get into it. Zoe was amazing, it was nice to see another woman doing action movies aside of Angelina Jolie. I know there probably wont be a sequel to this movie, but if there is, it would be interesting to see more on Cataleya. I recommend that you watch it.

Karina

My little sister turned 10 on Jan 15, but I waited until today to actually celebrate it. She picked a small oreo cake, which was delicious, and my mom made chicken sandwiches with a tomato sauce. It wasn't a big party, to be honest, it was just my mother, my sister, my brothers and me. I always like these types of celebrations, when it's just family. I hate to be put on the spot, and my sister is the same. Even though she annoys me sometimes, I still love her.

It's 2:28 in the Morning

I wasn't sleepy, and I got inspired to write, an idea that popped into my head, I don't normally write my fiction in a first person, but this one was just asking to be written this way. I believe it's a man speaking, although I don't know much about him since I've just created this. Read on, and tell me what you think.

The thing I love most about going out at night, is the peaceful sense I get. I'm talking about nearing one in the morning, when mostly everyone is sleeping. It gives me a sense of being alone, like there can't be souls for miles, and that for some reason, makes me feel a whole lot better when I can't sleep. I guess I'm the one to blame, I never wake up before noon, by the time I'm fully awake, it's already two in the afternoon. So I go out, the streets are practically empty, just a few cars pass by, but I pay no attention to them. I'm driving, have the heater on, while a soft country song plays in the background. It's cold outside, but then what exactly do I expect in the middle of January.  I'm less than five minutes away from where I live, the grocery store I pass has been closed for hours, the parking lot empty, but the neon lights are bright as if encouraging someone to come by. I almost take up that unspoken invitation, but I roll my eyes instead, what exactly would I be doing at a grocery store that is closed, sit in the parking lot until it opens? No, I drive home, I've been out for at least an hour, and I feel better then what I did earlier.
Some might say I have insomnia, I say, I just like the night. Everything changes when the sun goes down, there are less people I come across. Everyone that is willing to stay up at night, instead of succumbing to daylight time, well those are the specials. We're sort of a species all to our own, you see, when most of the human race is out frolicking during the day, we night stalkers are inside. But once the sun goes down, when most of the masses have gone to bed, we come out. There's a reason we are low in numbers though, we rarely gather among each other, we quietly pass by one another unseen.
I round the corner, and as hush, hush as one can get in a car, I enter the lot to the apartments. I park my old Toyota under the porch, I actually found a spot this time, yay for me. Once I lock my car, sling my bag pack over my shoulder, I stealthily walk towards the stairs. It is not as though I am doing something wrong, or I'm afraid to get caught. It's just that it seems almost wrong to make noise, to alert anyone of my presence. My hand grips the rail, while I take step up, there's a scream, a door slams. My heart is pounding, quite fiercely, although I might not show it, I was startled. I take a long breath, still being as quiet as I can. I haven't moved from my position, instead I strain my ears to hear more. Nothing, that's what I hear, and the wind is picking up, I decide to just go up the stairs, there is no sense of getting chilled. Just as I make it to the top, there is more shouting, I figure it came from one of the apartments downstairs, and I recognize that voice. It belongs to a woman I have on occasion bumped into, one of those nights when I had to get out of my apartment. I brushed next to her, just as she was getting home. She is married, or involved with a man. I know this because as soon as she made it to her door and went inside, her partner started to yell obscenities, he demanded to know who she was with. I stayed in the hallway to listen, she yelled back at him, saying she was with her sister but he didn't believe her, he called her a whore and accused her of cheating. Then, then it got quiet, and I left to drive.
This time her screaming is different, she sounds like she is in pain. A door opens, and I hear a voice of another neighbor, the old woman that lives right next to the yelling couple. I take my keys out and scramble to get inside as quickly as possible. The thing about the apartments where I live at is that they are cheap, so they have little to no insulation, which equals paper thin walls, everyone can hear everyones business. I unlock the door and get inside quickly, locking it again. But I don't move from my door, no, I stand there hoping to hear more. It has grown silent, but then I hear the sound of wheels on gravel. It's a car, from the lightness of it. Two doors open and slam, and less than a minute, I hear the banging of a door. A gruff voice calls out, "Open up, police!" I can only assume that the officer is knocking on the couple's door. Maybe the old woman called them out, because of all the shouting?
The banging on the door goes on for several more minutes, but it stops. I run to the window that overlooks the parking lot, the police car is pulling out and then it's gone. "That was it?" I ask myself, "Just a few bangs on the door, and then you leave?" Of course the officer can't hear me, and I don't necessarily expect a response. I can't say that I don't feel a little disappointed in him. What if the man killed the woman, and no one would know? What if he beat her unconscious ? All these wild scenarios run through my head, but nothing, nothing is possible. Not until someone actually goes in there and sees. I feel worried, yet conflicted. I am not one to get involved in these sort of things, what if I am just over exaggerating? Maybe the woman is fine, I have no actual evidence that the man has ever even hit his partner. All these are just assumptions, my imagination making the worse of things.

Happy Birthday Moony

Today is Moony's birthday. That's not her real name but that's what she goes by. I met her back in November of 2006. Has it been that long? My goodness, we have known each other for a while. Back when I learned about RPing, I joined my very first RP site, but now that I think about it, there really wasn't much of RPing going around. From then on, we just started RPing everywhere. She helped me out a lot, although we have not met in person, she was always there to listen. I love her, in a platonic way of course. By the way, I still ship X/P :P

Rosca and Babies

Today is El Dia de los Tres Reyes Magos (Day of the Three Kings.)  Sadly, I did not leave my shoe out for a present. We had a rosca de reyes (kings cake) that my cousin Imelda brought for work, so we could celebrate. The rosca was good, the bad part was that I got the baby in my piece. (See picture below.)

The whole lab laughed at me, so I have reasons to believe that it was a set up, and they left the pretty pink topping one for me, so conveniently cut, because they knew I would go for the one with most sugar on it. Damn it, they know me so well. The tradition is that the person who gets the baby has to throw a party, but since this is work, and I hate strongly dislike my coworkers, I’m not doing that. But I do have to bring another rosca or bake a cake of my own. I’m not going to use my magical, ninja, awesome baking skills for those assholes. I’m just going to go to the store and get them a rosca.

My aunt, Concha aka Imelda’s mom, is going to have a party thing for her nino dios on Saturday, there will be praying, there will be candy, and there will be free food! So I’m definitely going to be there, even if I’m not Catholic. I don’t know the prayers, so I will do what I did when I was little and was forced to go to church, I will mumble through the prayers and no one will be the wiser.

This has been a post.

BOW'11 and Introductions

I’m going to be doing BOW’11 or Blog Once Weekly 2011, which means I will be posting a blog at least once a week. I will find this epically hard because I tend not to finish what I start, you see, I get bored or get distracted with something new and shiny. I don’t expect my blog to be something out of this world, or anyone to even follow me. I just want to do this for myself, I want memories for myself, because I tend to block out everything. So, hi, I’m Veronica, and this has been a post.
